During the summer months, Europe Direct Valletta and the European Commission Representation in Malta are teaming up with the Foundation for Educational Services to organise activities for children attending the government-run summer school ‘Skolasajf’.

MEUSAC staff have in the last months prepared an interactive activity themed, ‘Connecting Cultures’ to help the children explore the EU’s motto ‘United in Diversity’. The motto signifies how Europeans have come together, to work for peace and prosperity, while at the same time being enriched by the continent's many different cultures, traditions and languages.

The sessions will be delivered to 22 Skolasajf centres in Malta and 7 in Gozo will highlight the vast multiculturalism amongst the EU Member States by promoting various aspects that have moulded each State’s culture and as such has contributed towards a rich European cultural identity.

The sessions will thus enable children to get a better understanding of the diversity and multiculturalism aspects of Europe. Children will also learn and be exposed to the different official EU languages, national flags and currencies. This will thus allow children to appreciate more the vast and rich cultural diversity across the EU.
